Steps for New Students

Steps for First-Time Freshmen:


Step 1: Apply to Cerritos College

Complete the admissions application to officially apply and enroll as a Cerritos College student.

For student-athletes starting in the Fall semester, make sure to apply for both Summer and Fall semesters.

For student-athletes starting in the Spring semester, make sure to apply for the Spring semester.

Step 2: Financial Aid/CA Dream Act

Apply for financial aid. Complete the FAFSA application or CA Dream Act (Federal School Code for Cerritos College: 001161) form. If you have further questions, please visit Financial Aid

Step 3: Assessment/Self-Report Tool

Once you have applied to Cerritos College and received your student ID number through email, please log onto to your MyCerritos and complete the English & Math Self-Report Tool (SRT). If you have completed and passed AP exams please submit AP scores to admissions. 

Step 4: New Student-Athlete Orientation (Typically June to mid-July)

You will sign-up for a new student-athlete orientation with your team. In this orientation, you will learn about the process of being a Cerritos College student-athlete and the registration process. You will meet with an Athletic Counselor to develop your first-semester educational plan and select your first-semester classes. Please let the Athletic Counselor know you have AP credit. 

Step 5: Enrollment of Classes

Once you have completed the new student-athlete orientation, make sure to mark your calendar for the student-athlete priority enrollment date. On that date you will login to your MyCerritos account and finish enrolling in your classes. 

Step 6: Pay Your Fees/Check Your MyCerritos Account

Login to MyCerritos and click on Student Center to check for any registration fees or any financial aid to-do list items. Holds will be placed on student accounts for outstanding fees.

Step 7: Get Ahead By Buying Your Books

Make sure to order your books before the start of the fall semester by visiting the Bookstore online. 

  • Scroll down to Get Your Textbook and look for Shop by Student ID.
  • Enter your Cerritos Student ID #

Steps for Transfer Students:

Step 1: Apply to Cerritos College

Complete the admissions application to officially apply and enroll as a Cerritos College student. 

For student-athletes starting in the Fall semester, make sure to apply for both Summer and Fall semesters.

For student-athletes starting in the Spring semester, make sure to apply for the Spring semester.

Step 2: Financial Aid/CA Dream Act

Apply for financial aid. Complete the FAFSA application or CA Dream Act (Federal School Code for Cerritos College: 001161) form. If you have further questions, please visit Financial Aid

If you have previously applied for financial aid for the current year, please make sure you add Cerritos College to your FAFSA. This ensures your aid will be transferred to Cerritos College.

Step 3: Transcripts

Please submit your official transcripts from the college(s) you previously attended to Cerritos College Admissions & Records office.  If you are sending them electronically please use this email admissions-info@cerritos.edu.

Please have your unofficial transcripts available when you speak to an Athletic Counselor.   

Step 4: Meet with an Athletic Counselor

You will meet with an Athletic Counselor to review your transfer courses and will develop your comprehensive educational plan. Please have your unofficial transcripts available for this meeting. You will also have the opportunity to pick your classes for the upcoming semester. 

Step 5: Enroll in Classes

Once you have met with an Athletic Counselor, make sure to mark your calendar for the student-athlete priority enrollment date. On that date you will login to your MyCerritos account to finish enrolling in your classes. 

Step 6: Pay Your Fees

Login to MyCerritos and click on Student Center to check for any registration fees or any financial aid to-do list items. Holds will be placed on student accounts for outstanding fees.

**For Out-of-State students:
If you are transferring from out-of-state, we encourage you to start gathering documents that you will need to submit to be considered for in-state tuition. (Residency is established one (1) year and one (1) day before the start of the term)

Please read the Residency Requirements to establish California residency for in-state tuition. 

Step 7: Get Ahead By Buying Your Books
