After both the Cerritos College men's and women's water polo teams finished in second place in the South Coast Conference, they were each seeded #6 for the Southern California Regional Playoffs. The SoCal Regionals, which are being held at Southwestern College, will get underway on Thursday and run through Saturday. The top two teams advance to the CCCAA State Championships.
The Falcon women (20-7) will open on Thursday at 4:15 p.m. when they take on #11-seeded Grossmont College. Earlier in the season, Cerritos handed the Griffins (16-8) a 13-5 setback in the same pool in which they will be competing on Thursday. Making their fifth consecutive post-season appearance, and recording their second straight 20-win season, the Falcons will take on #3-seeded Orange Coast College with a win in the first round. Cerritos faced Orange Coast once and suffered a 17-14 loss.

On the men's side, the Falcons (19-11) are making their 17th SoCal appearance in the 18 seasons under Joe Abing after coming in second place at the South Coast Conference Tournament. The team is seeded #6 and will face #3-seeded Saddleback College on Friday at 1:45 p.m. It will be the third meeting this season between the teams, with the Bobcats recording 16-10 and 10-8 decisions at tournaments earlier in the year. The winner will advance to the semfinals, which will take place on Saturday.
