One day after a stunning walk-off win against Fresno City College, the Cerritos College baseball team was defeated by host Cuesta College, 16-1 on Thursday. The Falcons (7-26) will play their third road game in as many days against a conference leading team, as they travel to Bakersfield College on Friday for a 1:00 p.m. game.

The Cougars (22-12) held a 13-0 lead after three innings, while the Cerritos offense was limited to just eight hits.

Cerritos collected two of their hits in the first inning when freshman second baseman Alejandro Bueno (Centennial, NV HS) led off the game with a single. With one out, sophomore first baseman Michael Gonzalez (St. Bernard HS) dropped in a single to put runners at first and second base. They were unable to cash in on that opportunity, while Cuesta was able to string together multiple hits in a row to take a commanding lead.

Bueno collected his second hit of the game in the third inning, but was stranded, while their lone run came in the sixth inning. With one out, Gonzalez doubled, moved to third base on a passed ball and scored on a double by freshman third baseman Matt Den Hartog (Los Alamitos HS).
