Aside from two bad innings, where three walks and three errors accounted for eight runs, the Cerritos College baseball team outscored visiting Pasadena City College on Thursday at Kincaid Field. In their final South Coast Conference game of the season, the Falcons (7-29, 5-17) suffered a 9-3 loss to the Lancers (24-13, 14-8). The team closes out their season on Friday in a 2:30 p.m. non-conference game against Ventura College at Kincaid Field.
In the fourth inning, Cerritos starting pitcher Joshua Jorgensen (Lakewood HS/East Los Angeles College) issued three walks, with all of them coming home to score, as the Lancers slapped out consecutive two-out, two-run hits. Three consecutive errors on plays allowed Pasadena City to add to their lead against relief pitcher Anthony Gonzalez, Jr. (Norwalk HS) to make it an 8-0 game.
The Falcons scored twice in the bottom of the fifth inning on an RBi double from freshman third baseman Matt Den Hartog (Los Alamitos HS), followed by an RBI single from freshman outfielder Shea Estrin (West Torrance HS). Cerritos left a pair of runners on base in the inning.
They added a single run in the eighth inning when consecutive base hits by freshman outfielder Wyatt Hall (Long Beach Millikan HS), sophomore shortstop Trevor McInerney (Cerritos HS/El Camino College) and sophomore first baseman Michael Gonzalez (St. Bernard HS) accounted for their final run of the game.
