Joining the Cerritos College staff for his first season is Aaron
Acevedo, who spent the last three years coaching at Roosevelt High
in Corona as their kicking and punting instructor, as well as one
year working with throwers on the track and field team. As a kicker
at Nogales High, Acevedo was a four-year starter on the football
team and played four different positions. In addition to his
kicking and punting duties, he was also a starting center on
offense and defensive end, while earning all-league honors each
year. A four-year member of the track and field team, Acevedo also
reached the CIF Championships in the discus. Recruited by many
colleges coming out of high school, Acevedo settled at Mt. San
Antonio College, where he spent one year as a punter and was
teammates with NFL players Antonio Pierce and Chris McAllister.
Acevedo, 35, who was known as the “Gangster Punter” at
Mt. SAC, enjoys riding motorcycles and playing the drums in his
free time. He and his wife of 14 years, Mina, have three children
– Matthew (14), a freshman football player at Roosevelt High
in Corona, Melissa (11) and Emmanuel (8) and reside in Eastvale,
CA.
