Beginning his fourth season (no season was held in 2020 due to Covid-19) with the coaching staff as the defensive line coach is Davy Gnodle, who spent three seasons on the University of Arizona coaching staff (2016-18). In his first season with the Falcons, Gnodle helped coach a pair of unanimous All-State Defensive Linemen – Anthony Shipton and Logan Applewhite.

In his time as a defensive coach at the University of Arizona, Gnodle worked with the outside linebackers after spending his first two seasons as a defensive analyst as a graduate assistant. In 2017, he helped develop Kylan Wilborn into a Freshman All-American and was the creator and leader of the Rick Rodriguez Polynesian Athlete Showcase, which single-handedly used personal networks to promote a camp across the United States and Polynesia. In 2016, he was an assistant coach at the Polynesian All-American Bowl, as well as working with the AIGA Foundation 2016 Polynesian Underclassmen Camp. He has been affiliated with the AIGA Foundation since 2015.

Prior to his coaching assignment at the University of Arizona, Gnodle spent 2014-15 as a defensive line coach at Cathedral High School and started his coaching career as a linebackers coach at Carson High School in 2012. In his three seasons as a high school assistant coach, nine of his players earned Division I scholarships.

Gnodle earned a scholarship to Texas Southern University as a linebacker after playing at El Camino College in 2005 and 2007 and prepped at Carson High.

Gnodle earned his Master’s degree from the University of Arizona in Educational Leadership in 2017 after earning a Bachelor’s degree from Texas Southern University in Science and Health with an emphasis in Education in 2010. He graduated Cum Laude from Texas Southern and was a member of the Honor Society.

Gnodle, 35, and his wife Shanyl have been married for eight years and have three children – Davy Jr. (8), Taliloa Silia (5) and Imela (4) and reside in Wilmington. Gnodle also an active leader in the First Christian Church in Wilmington, as well as a participant in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (CFA) and a member of the AFCA Polynesian Coaches Fellowship.
