Now is his third season as a member of the coaching staff is James Heggins, who will serve as the special teams coordinator and work with the cornerbacks. He has 24 years of coaching experience, which includes 17 seasons as the head coach at Baldwin Park High (1999-2016). He led his teams to five league championship teams and seven CIF Playoff appearances. He spent the 2016-18 seasons at Duarte High and led them to their first playoff appearance in 20 years and a league championship. Heggins also served as the defensive backs coach at Pasadena City College in 2004 and was on the coaching staff at Mt. San Antonio College from 2012-15.

A former all-conference honorable mention selection at cornerback at Mt. San Antonio College, Heggins helped lead the Mounties to the 1993 Simple Green Bowl Championship. He then continued his career at San Diego State University where he started two years at cornerback for the Aztecs. At Baldwin Park High, Heggins led lead his team to the 1992 CIF Championship.

Heggins received his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice Administration from San Diego State University in 1998 and his Master’s Degree in Kinesiology from New Mexico Highlands University in 2004.

Heggins, 48, has three children - Jaylin (20), Jazmyn (20) and Jayne (14) and resides in Long Beach.
