Entering his fifth season (no season was held in 2020 due to Covid-19) as a member of the coaching staff is former Falcon 2nd Team All-Conference wide receiver Justin Caines. He will work as the passing game offensive coordinator, as well as wide receivers coach and media coordinator. In 2014, Caines finished second on the team with 30 receptions for 478 yards and tied for the team lead with nine touchdowns. He was also named the Offensive Most Valuable Player of the Golden State Bowl, where he caught four passes for 69 yards and two touchdowns, including the game-winner with 3:53 left in the fourth quarter. As a freshman for the Falcons, Caines caught 11 passes for 102 yards. Caines was voted the team’s Offensive Player of the Year as a sophomore and received the BYA Offensive Player of the Year twice.

Caines parlayed his success at Cerritos into a scholarship at the University of Rhode Island, where he played nine games as a senior and pulled in one pass for 20 yards and returned two punts for 22 yards against the University of New Hampshire. His junior season consisted of six receptions for 36 yards and also returned 11 punts for 31 yards.

As a prep player at La Habra High, Caines was a member of two CIF Championship and four Freeway League championship teams. He was an all-league selection his senior season after catching 45 passes for 688 yards and 10 touchdowns and played for former Cerritos player and assistant coach Frank Mazzotta, Jr. Caines was also a member of the track and field and basketball teams.

He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Child Development & Family Studies in 2016 from the University of Rhode Island and is currently a part-time faculty member at Cerritos. A Falcon ballboy as a child, Caines, 27, is the son of Cerritos defensive coordinator Tom Caines and mom (Stacy), while he has two brothers Dillon (22) and Bobby (19).
