Starting the new year with a South Coast Conference crossover game, the Cerritos College men's basketball team recorded an 84-47 win over visiting Mt. San Antonio College on Friday. Not only was the win the third in a row for the Falcons (8-7), it also snapped a three-game home court losing skid. The team will play their second of three home games in a row next Friday at 5:00 p.m. when they host Rio Hondo College.

Taking on the Mounties (4-11), Cerritos sprinted out to a 27-5 lead early in the first half and never looked back. Sophomore Jacob Washington (Washington Prep HS/Los Angeles Harbor College) accounted for nine of those points, while freshman Dorian Harris (Cerritos HS) produced seven points off the bench, which included a three-pointer.

Both teams looked to incorporate a fast-break approach to the game, with the Falcons being the only team to finish off their offensive possessions. Mt. SAC shot a paltry 30% from the field and converted only 4-of-27 three-pointers on the night. Although they converted only 42% of their field goals, the Falcons out-rebounded the Mounties, 58-34, which led to second chance scoring opportunities.

Washington finished the night with 17 points and nine rebounds, with Harris netting a trio of three-pointers and also scored 17 points off the bench. Also coming off the bench was sophomore Daelyn Bams (Villa Park HS), who scored 10 points with eight rebounds, while the bench produced 47 points and 31 rebounds.

Every player saw at least 10 minutes of action, with freshman Jyvonnte Moore (Cerritos HS) recording nine points and six rebounds in his 10 minutes of play. Sophomore Jalen Washington (Bishop Montgomery HS) ended with seven points and four assists, with sophomore Jeremiah Galang (Narbonne HS) posting six points in the win.
