In their South Coast Conference South Division opener, it was a familiar face leading the Cerritos College men's basketball team over host Los Angeles Harbor College. Sophomore Jacob Washington (Washington Prep HS/Los Angeles Harbor College), who played for the Seahawks last season, led the Falcons with 18 points and added 10 rebounds in an 80-61 win on Wednesday. The victory was the seventh in a row for Cerritos (12-7, 1-0), who will face rival Long Beach City College (14-5, 1-0) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

It was the first time facing his former team for Washington, who averaged 10.3 points and 7.5 rebounds for LA Harbor (6-13, 0-1) in his freshman season. The double-double was also his second straight of the season. Also recording a double-double in the win was freshman Jaishon Forte (Rancho Verde HS), who registered 14 points and 14 rebounds, which was also his second consecutive and fourth on the year.

As a team, the Falcons converted 49% of their shots and outrebounded the Seahawks, 41-30. The bench produced 18 points and were led by freshman Joshua Harrison (Onate, NM HS), who accounted for 10 points and five rebounds.

Also playing well were freshman Dorian Harris (Cerritos HS), who had 12 points and five assists, with sophomore Jalen Washington (Bishop Montgomery HS) posting 12 points, three rebounds and four assists.
