Led by a career-high 29 points from sophomore Juice Belvin (St. Anthony HS), the Cerritos College men's basketball team opened South Coast Conference South Division play with an 89-78 win at Los Angeles Southwest College on Wednesday. The Falcons (9-6, 1-0), winners of three in a row, will play their first game in The Aviary in a month when they host Los Angeles Harbor College in a 5:00 p.m. game on Friday. Due to the college's current protocols, no fans will be in attendance.

Belvin, who drained 14-of-20 shots from off the bench, helped Cerritos come back from a 44-41 halftime deficit. The Falcon defense, led by four steals from Belvin, who also dished out four assists, limited the Cougars (10-5, 0-1) to just 34 second half points.

As a team, the Falcons shot 50% from the field, which also included sophomore Dorian Harris (Cerritos HS) draining 9-of-16 shots from the field and added 24 points on the night. He also led the team with nine rebounds, with Cerritos also receiving 12 points each from freshmen Malik Johnson (Compton HS) and Jalen Shores (Lakewood HS), while the two combined for 13 rebounds in the win. Sophomore Andre Fields (Warren HS) produced seven points and six rebounds for the Falcons.
