Still looking for their first win of the season, the Cerritos College men's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision to Taft College on Tuesday. The defending state champion Falcons (0-4-2) have struggled to score goals on the year and have only scored twice in their last four games. They open South Coast Conference play in two weeks when they travel to Long Beach City College for a 4:00 p.m. contest.

Although they weren't able to find the back of the net against the Cougars, the team had several scoring chances in the first half when the game was still scoreless. Freshman Mark Cruz (El Toro HS) led the team with five shots on goal and had a good opportunity slip away when he couldn't catch up to a lead pass.

The Cougars (3-2-0), who lost to the Falcons in the state semifinals last year, broke the tie with a goal in the 65th minute and then added an insurance goal in the 83rd minute. Sophomore Jaime Sanchez (Aspire Pacific Academy HS) made nine saves on the day.
