In their final game of the season, the Cerritos College men's soccer team secured third place in the South Coast Conference when they posted a 1-0 win over host East Los Angeles College on Saturday evening. The shutout was the fourth in a row for the Falcons (7-10-4, 7-5-2), who catapulted over the Huskies (9-6-6, 6-5-3) with the win.
In goal for the final three games and recording shutouts was freshman Eduardo Valdovinos (Long Beach Millikan HS), who turned away six shots on the night. He ended the season with 297 shutout minutes in conference play.
The lone goal in the game came in the 78th minute, as freshman Ricardo Colin (Jefferson HS) led a pass to freshman Mark Cruz (El Toro HS), who skipped the ball past the keeper and into the net. Both teams had scoring chances throughout the game, but could not finish plays.
The trio of Cruz, Michael Licon (Fullerton HS) and Mark Sanchez (Westview, AZ HS) all had a pair of shots on goal for the Falcons.
