Looking to continue their solid play, the Cerritos College men's soccer team was unable to get on the board in a 1-0 non-conference loss to visiting Golden West College on Friday. It marked the first time this season the Falcons (2-2-1) were shutout and was the first of four straight games at home. The team will now host Oxnard College, the defending CCCAA state champions at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

In the loss to the Rustlers (3-0-2), neither team had great looks at the net, as both teams played a physical, defensive-minded game. Both teams were able to work the ball into the opposing team's attacking zone, but the defense on both side of the field stood their ground.

The only break came in the 43rd minute when Golden West's Brian Orozco was able to work his way around the Falcon defense and fired a shot into the far side upper corner for the game's lone goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Ivan Martin Del Campo (Granada Hills Kennedy HS) suffered the loss and made a pair of saves on the day.

Freshman Luis Garcia (La Habra HS) and sophomore Edwin Corona (Cathedral HS) had the best scoring chances for Cerritos, and combined for eight shots, with only one of them on net. Garcia missed out on a great chance in the first half when a rebound from Rustler goalkeeper Josue Catarino landed in front of him, but his shot went over the net.
