Thanks to three first-half goals, the Cerritos College men's soccer team recorded a 3-0 South Coast Conference crossover win over visiting East Los Angeles College on Tuesday. The win snapped a three-game losing skid where the Falcons (7-5-4) scored just one goal. On Friday, the team will close out their crossover schedule with a 4:00 p.m. match against Rio Hondo College.

Cerritos scored their three goals in a 12-minute span, with sophomore Edwin Corona (Cathedral HS) accounting for two of the team's three tallies. He opened the scoring in the 17th minute when he stole the ball from East LA's Agustin Barros and lofted a shot over goalkeeper Josha Moreno, who was far out of the net. Corona's shot was place perfectly and bounced into the net. Just five minutes later, freshman Adrian Becerra (Morningside HS) also took advantage of Moreno coming out too far and added to the Falcons lead.

Freshman Guy Julien (National Haitian Student Alliance), who dribbled the ball into East Los Angeles territory, spotted Becerra, who won the ball and saw open territory. After moving the ball closer to the box, he sent a shot that went over the outstretched hands of Moreno and into the net for his fifth goal of the season.

Corona picked up his eighth goal of the year in the 29th minute when his low, hard shot rolled under Moreno, who was beat on the play. Freshman Marc Calderon (Elizabeth Learning Center HS) got the play started when his rush along the sideline and used his speed to get separation from his Huskies defender.

Sophomore Ivan Martin Del Campo (Granada Hills Kennedy HS) got the start in goal and made four saves before being removed in the 88th minute when he was shaken up on a collision in front of the net. Freshman Hernan Perez (Pioneer HS) came on and turned away the lone shot he faced in the final two minutes of the game.
