For the second season in a row, the Cerritos College men's soccer team has been seeded #1 for the Southern California Regional Playoffs. The Falcons (17-1-2), who captured their third straight South Coast Conference South Division title this season, are currently on a 19-match unbeaten streak (17-0-2) after a season-opening loss. Last year, Cerritos went through the season unbeaten, but saw their campaign abruptly end with a penalty kick loss to Taft College in the CCCAA State Semifinals. The Falcons will host #16-seeded Cuyamaca College at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, which will be the first meeting between the two teams in school history.

Leading the Falcons into the postseason will be freshman Kevin Diaz (Connections Academy HS), who is tied for fifth in the state with 18 goals and third with 49 points, while sophomore Erick Gallinar (Connections Academy HS/UC Irvine) is tied for sixth in the state with a team-leading 14 assists, with Diaz in eight place with his 13 helpers. Freshman defender Ernesto Cueva (Bassett HS) has been a great addition to the roster, and has posted six goals on the season, while helping Cerritos limit opponents to just 16 goals in 19 games. On the year, 14 different players have scored, including freshman Bryan Villalobos (Salesian HS), who has posted 12 goals. Even sophomore goalkeeper Jordan Aldama (North Torrance HS) got his name on the scoresheet when he converted a penalty kick and added an assist during the season. In net, Aldama has played very minute and has an 0.80 goals against average with 83 saves and nine shutouts.

For the Coyotes, who have won their last two games, they've also played five 1-0 games (3-2) in their last eight matches. Cuyamaca finished in third place in the Pacific Coast Conference and went 1-1 against South Coast Conference teams this year. Guillermo Bermundez has scored 12 of their 33 team goals this season, with Wahib Awarek chipping in with five goals. Holding the team lead with nine assists is Jonathan Rebolledo, while Miguel Angel Munoz has started 18 of their games and has posted a 1.23 goals against average.
