For the fifth game in a row, the Cerritos College men's soccer team has come out on top. The latest triumph for the Falcons was a 2-0 South Coast Conference decision over Los Angeles City College Friday night. The victory improves the team's overall record to 10-2-1, while they are now 4-0-0 in conference action. Over the course of the last six games (5-0-1), Cerritos has allowed just one goal.

The Falcons will look to keep their unbeaten streak going when they travel to Rio Hondo College for a 2:00 p.m. game next Tuesday.

"We played great today," said head coach Benny Artiaga. "This was one of our best overall performances. Arnold Castillo (Bell Gardens HS) was very good in the midfield and so was Ronaldo Ibarra (Montclair HS). It was good for Pablo Caparelli (Real Salt Lake Academy, UT HS) to get his goal."

Caparelli scored what would turn out to be the game-winning goal in the 21st minute when he finished off a play that started with freshman Uriel Sanchez (Servite HS) working his way through the Cubs defense in order to get his pass away. It was the first goal of the season for Caparelli, who has also had a hand in four other goals with assists.

The defensive play continued to excel, while the offense did enough to secure the victory. Cerritos picked up an insurance goal in the 70th minute, as freshman Miguel Aguilar (St. Genevieve HS) fed a pass to Castillo, who found the back of the net for his second goal of the season. He hadn't scored since the season opener.

Earning the win in goal for the fifth straight game was freshman Alex Ledesma (Bellflower HS), who recorded a season-high seven saves.

"I was very happy with another shutout," added Artiaga. "The guys are starting to hit on all cylinders."
