With the second day of the South Coast Conference Championships completed, the Cerritos College men's swimming team sits in fourth place with 285 team points. The last day will take place tomorrow at East Los Angeles College with the final events starting at 10:00 a.m. and the finals taking place at 4:00 p.m.

Both relay races on the day netted third place finishes for the Falcons. In the 200-yard medley relay, the foursome of Silvestre Chavez (Downey HS), Joey Hurtado (Cerritos HS), Kobe Hurtado (Cerritos HS) and Michael Reyes (Cerritos HS) edged out El Camino College and posted a time of 1:45.68. After five individual races took place, the quartet of Chavez, Reyes, Abimael Anorve (Mira Costa HS) and Kobe Hurtado recorded a third place time of 7:34.11 in the 800-yard freestyle relay.

Kobe Hurtado turned in a pair of fourth place finishes in his events, which helped Cerritos collect points toward their total amount. In the 100-yard butterfly, Hurtado registered a time of 53.53, with Chavez earning seventh place in a time of 55.11. In the 100-yard breaststroke, Kobe Hurtado came in fourth place with a time of 1:02.35, while his brother Joey Hurtado posted an eighth place time of 1:08.58.

As for Anorve, he picked up seventh place points in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:01.79, while teammate Daniel Benitez (Paramount HS) also finished seventh in the 400-yard IM with a time of 5:03.15. In the 200-yard freestyle, Richard Montanez (Baldwin Park HS) was the highest finishing Falcon, as he took 11th place in 2:00.71.
