Competing at the Golden West Sprint Medley on Friday, the Cerritos College men's swimming team compiled 288 team points, which earned them a fifth place finish. The Falcons open South Coast Conference action next Friday at Mt. San Antonio College, where they will take on the Mounties and El Camino College.

As a team, Cerritos came in sixth place in the final event of the day, the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:34.57 and barely edged conference opponent El Camino, who came in seventh place at 3:34.63. The Falcon foursome consisted of Nick Chieng (Downey HS), Isaiah Wright (Whittier HS), Johan Gaytan (Downey HS) and Diego Campos (Downey HS). In the 200-yard freestyle relay, the Falcons turned in a seventh place result out of 25 entries with a time of 1:36.01. That quartet consisted of Chieng, Campos, Ben Neppl (Long Beach Millikan HS) and Wright.

Individually, Neppl took second place in the 50-yard backstroke with a personal best time of 28.31 and only beaten by Patrick Reynolds of Grossmont College and his winning time of 27.89. Wright also swam a strong race and turned in a sixth place time of 30.69. In the 100-yard freestyle, Campos placed sixth in a time of 52.19, while the Falcons owned the sixth through eighth place finishers in the 50-yard breaststroke. Aiden Parra came in sixth place at 32.31, followed by Ruben Martinez in seventh place at 32.55, with Campos and his time of 32.83 in eighth place.
