M. Tennis: Second straight 9-0 win for the Falcons

For the second day in a row, the Cerritos College men's tennis team recorded a 9-0 win, as they defeated host Grossmont College on Friday. The Falcons improved to 11-1 overall, while they have defeated their opponents nine times by a 9-0 decision. The team will travel on Tuesday to Los Angeles Pierce College in a 2:00 p.m. match.

Cerritos dominated the Griffins from the outset, as none of the singles players surrendered more than two games. In addition to receiving a forfeit in the #6 position, freshman Nikita Katsnelson (Odessa Gymnasium No. 1, Ukraine) saw his opponent retire after winning the first set, 6-1 at #2 on the ladder. Sophomore Mark Antoniuk (W. 124 School, Russia) shut out David Colera, 6-0, 6-0, while sophomore Agustin Lombardi (E.S.D.S., Argentina) earned a 6-1, 6-0 victory.

At the top of the singles ladder, freshman Oleksandr Krasnov (School 106, Ukraine) played to a 6-1, 6-1 win, with sophomore Edgar Munoz (Paramount HS) getting stronger as his match went on, and earned a 6-2, 6-0 win over Pedro Bahniuk at #4.

In doubles play, the Falcons received a forfeit win at #3, while freshmen James Zhang (Shenzhen Luohu Foreign Language School, China) and Aleks Trifunovic (Katrinelunds Gymnasium, Sweden) picked up an 8-4 win. Munoz paired up with freshman Kyle Konishi (Mayfair HS) for an 8-2 victory.
