In their first home match of the season, the Cerritos College men's tennis team swept past Los Angeles Pierce, 9-0 on Tuesday. The Falcons (2-0) will take on their second NCAA Division III college on Thursday when they host Chapman University at 2:00 p.m.

Playing many of their freshmen for the first time this season, Cerritos won all six singles matches in straight sets and picked up a shutout win in doubles action. The lone sophomore, Henry Ayesiga (Malezi School, Kenya), played in the #1 singles position and earned a 6-4, 6-4 win. He competed at #6 in the team's first match of the year earlier in the week.

The next five singles matches featured players competing for the first time, with three of them losing just one game, while Marcos Paulo Silvestre (Colégio Tiradentes, Brazil) earned a 6-0, 6-0 win in the #6 spot. Carlos Mendez (Instituto de Educación Secundaria Ies El Palo, Spain), Biel Roca Carreras (Iguolada, Spain) and Kwang-Eun Lee (Sunny Hills HS) all earned 6-1, 6-0 wins, with Mukhammadjon Sanaev (Tashkent International School, Uzbekistan) coming away with a 6-2 6-1 win in the #5 spot.

Doubles action saw the tandem of Silvestre and freshman Bruno Duarte (Centro Educacional Rogêdo, Brazil) teaming up for the second time and they earned an 8-4 win in the top spot. Mendez and Roca-Carrera didn't surrender a game, while Sanaeu and Blaisure Guerrero (El Rancho HS) recorded an 8-4 victory.
