With their second sweep of the week, the Cerritos College men's tennis team improved to 8-0 on the year. The Falcons, who dispatched Glendale College, 9-0 on Thursday, will host Grossmont College at 2:00 p.m. in a rescheduled match from a rainout earlier in the month.

After two close doubles matches, Cerritos easily swept past the Vaqueros (5-1) in singles play, handing them their first loss of the season.

In singles action, #1 player, sophomore Sasha Krasnov (School 106, Ukraine) earned a 6-1, 6-2 win, as did sophomore James Zhang (Shenzhen Luohu Foreign Language School, China), who moved up the ladder in place of sophomore Nikita Katsnelson (Odessa Gymnasium No. 1, Ukraine), who has been ill. That adjusted the ladder in the middle, with freshman Bruno Duarte (Centro Educacional Rogêdo, Brazil) and sophomore Aleks Trifunovic (Katrinelunds Gymnasium, Sweden) each recording 6-1, 6-1 wins, while Zhang posted a 6-1, 6-2 victory.

Playing only singles, freshman Carlos Mendez (Instituto de Educación Secundaria Ies El Palo, Spain) defeated Stephen Sandoval, 6-3, 6-1, with sophomore Henry Ayesiga (Malezi School, Kenya) stepping into the #6 role and handed Andres Simental a 6-1, 6-4 setback.

Krasnov and Katsnelson did team up for an 8-5 doubles win, as did Duarte and freshman Marcos Paulo Silvestre (Colégio Tiradentes, Brazil). In the #2 doubles slot, Trifunovic and Zhang kept the Falcons undefeated in doubles action this season with their 8-1 win.
