Taking on NCAA Division II UC San Diego on Saturday, the Cerritos College men's tennis team was defeated, 9-0. The Falcons (1-1) will get a little time off before playing their third of five straight road matches to start the season. They will be heading to Irivne Valley College for a 2:00 p.m. match on February 12.

In the loss, the team was swept in straight sets in all five of the singles matches that were played. Several players saw their first action of the season, as the Falcons are still looking for the right combination of players in the right position on the ladder.

Both sophomore Jan Simon (Gymnasium Auf Der Karthause, Germany/Cypress College) and freshman Legas Legrand (Marie France HS, France) were able to extend the second set of their singles matches before dropping respective 6-4 sets. In doubles action, the tandem of sophomores Tomas Bella (Colegio Mallinckrodt, Argentina/Cypress College) and sophomore Nico De La Pena (Downey HS) played to a tie-breaker, but came up short, 6-7 (2-7). in the #2 doubles match.
