M. Tennis: Shutout win extends winning streak

For the seventh time in their last eight matches, the Cerritos College men's tennis team shut out their opponent. On Thursday, the Falcons (10-1, 6-0) defeated a shorthanded Victor Valley College team, 6-0 in a Western State Conference East Division match. The team will travel to Saddleback College on Friday for a non-conference match.

Three of the four singles matches that were played resulted in Cerritos posting 6-0, 6-0 wins, with sophomore Jan Simon (Gymnasium Auf Der Karthause, Germany/Cypress College) taking over the #1 position on the ladder for the day. He recorded a 6-2, 6-0 win, with freshman Lucas Legrand (Marie, France), along with sophomores Tomas Bella (Colegio Mallinckrodt (Argentina/Cypress College) and Nico De La Pena (Downey HS) coming away with shutout wins.

In doubles play, Bella and De La Pena matches their shutout scores, with an 8-0 decision, while Simon and Legrand surrendered just one game in an 8-1 win.
