With no signs of slowing down, the Cerritos College men's tennis team extended their winning streak to 11 matches in a row with a 5-0 non-conference win at Saddleback College on Friday. The Falcons (12-1), who are the defending CCCAA State Team Dual State Champions, will resume Western State Conference East Division play on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. when they host El Camino College. The shutout was the fourth in a row and eighth in their last nine matches.

Only four singles matches and two doubles matches were played, with one of the singles matches halted after Cerritos earned their fifth team point, which clinched the victory. With sophomore Jan Simon (Gymnasium Auf Der Karthause, Germany/Cypress College) and freshman Lucas Legrand (Marie, France) playing in the #1 doubles position for the second match in a row, the duo recorded an 8-2 victory. It was the same score for sophomores Tomas Bella (Colegio Mallinckrodt, Argentina/Cypress College) and Nico De La Pena (Downey HS), who also moved up a spot on the ladder.

With two of the top singles players enjoying the day off, Simon played in the #1 singles spot for the second time in a row and dispatched Shayan Haddad Kaveh, 6-4, 6-0, while Legrand excelled in the #2 spot once again by posting a 6-0, 6-2 win. In the #4 position, De La Pena accounted for the fifth team point with his 6-1, 6-1 victory.
