Over the weekend, the Cerritos College men's track and field team competed in the Cal State Los Angeles Invitational. On Friday, they held the throwing events at Falcon Stadium, while the running events were held the following day at Cal State LA. Next weekend, the team will be split up, with some competing at the Ben Brown Invitational at Cal State Fullerton and others at the Occidental Invitational.

In the field events, sophomore jumper Stacy Chukwumezie (Downey HS) won the long jump with a distance of 7.18 meters and finished in 12th place in the triple jump at 12.73 meters, which happened on his first attempt. Sophomore teammate David Williams (Long Beach Poly HS) placed seventh with his leap of 13.44 meters. In the shot put, freshman Jorge Gonzalez (Ventura HS) turned in a second place performance with a distance of 14.35 meters, while his discus throw of 41.73 meters earned him a fifth place result.

Sophomore Zach Munoz (La Mirada HS/Cal State Fullerton) came in seventh place in the javelin at 47.96 meters and was bested by only one community college athlete, with sophomore Erik Rodarte (El Rancho HS) adding a 10th place finish in the discus at 40.21 meters. Freshman Christopher Lawry (Ventura HS) competed in the high jump and finished in ninth place with a height of 1.87 meters. Munoz also turned in a 10th place finish in the 110-meter HH with his time of 15.89. In the 400-meter IH, sophomore Jaydon Logan (Artesia HS) was clocked in 53.81, which put him in third place on the day.

In the 100 meters, freshman Saadiq Jennings (Martin Luther Kings HS) excelled in a field of 82 entries and posted the ninth fastest time with a clocking of 10.97, while his time of 22.35 put him in 12th place in the 200 meters. Sophomore Jhamani Long (Cerritos HS) competed in the 400 meters and his time of 50.13 earned him a sixth place finish, with freshman Abraxaz Sanchez (Schurr HS) posting a seventh place time in the 800 meters at 1:58.81.
