M. Track & Field: Sprinters excel at UNLV Invitational

Led by their sprinters, the Cerritos College men's track and field team won a pair of events and placed their names on the school's all-time list. Competing at the UNLV Invitational, the Falcons won both the 400-meter relay, as well as the 200 meters, with their respective times putting them third on the school's all-time top five list.

In the 400-meter relay, the foursome of Kelly Brown (Wilson Magnet, NY HS/College of the Sequoias), Daniel Stokes (Diamond Ranch HS/Mt. San Antonio College), Kawika Jones (Green Valley NV HS/Green River, WA College) and Kendall Turner (Hesperia HS/Mt. San Antonio College) turned in a first place time of 39.90, which is the third best time by a quartet in school history. Their time beat second place Northern Colorado (41.41) by over a second. As for Stokes, he won the 200 meters with a time of 20.74 and is the third best time recorded in school history, Freshman teammate Christian Shakir-Ricks (Murrieta Mesa HS) finished in third place with a time of 21.00.

The 100 meters saw a trio of Cerritos runners finish in the top 10, with Stokes (10.38) placing third and Turner (10.61) coming in fourth, while sophomore Trevor Reid (Notre Dame HS/Mt. San Antonio College) posting a seventh place time of 10.73. The 110-meter HH saw sophomore Victor Williams (Dorsey HS) take fourth place in a time of 14.57.

In the field events, sophomore Jorge Gonzalez (Ventura HS) took third in the discus (47.74 meters) and sixth in the shot put (14.08 meters), while freshman Titus Houston (Narbonne HS) recording a third place distance in the long jump at 7.14 meters.
