After the end of the Southern California Prelims at Riverside City College, the Cerritos College men's track and field team has just three team points with four events completed. The Falcons, who won the South Coast Conference Championship, will be looking to score big points next Saturday at the Southern California Championships, which will also be held in Riverside.
Of the events that were completed, sophomore Jorge Gonzalez took seventh place and earned two teams points. His best throw of the day was only 14.38 meters, while his conference winning distance a week ago of 15.60 meters would have put him in second place. Back on April 2-3, sophomore Eugene Leduc took eighth place in the decathlon with 5228 points, which netted the Falcons their other team point. In the 10,000 meters, sophomore Adrian Casas checked in with a time of 37:19.82, which put him in 26th place overall. It was two minutes off his fifth place time at the conference championships, which would have put him in the top 20, but not high enough to score any points. The fourth completed event was the javelin, with Gonzalez the highest placing of the four entries with an 18th place distance of 40.44 meters. Had he been able to match his distance from a week before, it would have earned the team another point.
