On Saturday at the Sacramento State Invitational, the Cerritos College men's track and field team compiled 46 team points and finished in fourth place. The Falcons, competing against 12 other schools, had the second most team points of any community college and only finished behind American River College, who had 81 team points. There were a total of six community colleges competing at the invitational. The team will now continue their season at the Cal State Los Angeles Invitational on Friday and Saturday. The throwing events will take place at Cerritos College on Friday.
The Falcons earned points in nine events, with the highlight being a second place finish for Keyaun Sterling (Carson HS) in the triple jump. His distance of 14.18 meters came in his fifth and final attempt. Sterling also had a third place result in the long jump at 6.97 meters, which also came in his last attempt. In the 400 meters, Colby Owens (Milford Mill Academy, MD HS) placed third out of 24 entries and recorded a time of 49.38.
