At the Southern California Prelims on Friday, the Cerritos College men's track and field team will send six athletes and a relay team, to the Southern California Championships, which will take place next Friday at Cerritos College. The top nine in lane events, as well as the top 12 in distance races and field events, advance to the SoCal Championships. The only event that was scored was the 10,000 meters, with the top eight scoring team points.
The best finish on the day for the Falcons was the 4x400-meter relay team, as they finished fourth place with a time of 3:17.98. That quartet consisted of Jordan Crowdus (Cabrillo HS), Caleb Dunomes (Long Beach Poly HS), George Flores (Downey HS) and Elijah Jones (Long Beach Jordan HS). Of that group, Jones has also qualified in the 400-meter IH, as his time of 55.81 put him in eighth place. In the 110-meter HH, sophomore Juan Ward (Paramount HS) placed fifth with a time of 14.59.
Thrower Daniel Chavez (Los Alamitos HS) qualified in both the hammer (41.42 meters; ninth place) and shot put (13.12 meters; 10th place).
