Entering his 14th season as a member of the Cerritos track and field coaching staff, Carl “Chucky” Hampton has had a lot of success working with the jumpers. In his time with the Falcons, Hampton has coached eight CCCAA State Champions, as well as a combined 27 Southern California and South Coast Conference champions.

As a member of the Long Beach City College track and field team, he earned their Most Valuable Athlete in 1997, as well as their Most Valuable Field Athlete in his freshman season of 1995. Prior to that, Hampton was a two-time Moore League champion in the long jump, while he also won the league title in the triple jump and as a member of the 1600-meter relay team. He received the Mark Carrier Award and the Leon Foreman Award.

Prior to coaching with the Falcons, Hampton has spent time on the coaching staff at Cabrillo High, Gahr High, Long Beach Wilson High, Long Beach Poly High and Los Angeles Southwest College.

Hampton graduated from Long Beach City College with an Associate degree in Kinesiology with a minor in Teaching in 1997. Hampton, 44, is single and lives in Long Beach.
