The Cerritos College men's water polo team scored the first 10 goals in their South Coast Conference match against visiting Chaffey College on Wednesday on their way to a 23-3 win. The victory by the Falcons improved their overall record to 8-6, while they are now 2-0 in conference play. The team will host the Cerritos Mini-Tournament a week from Friday and are slated to play a pair of games.

In the win over the Panthers, eight different players scored for Cerritos, who held a convincing 8-0 lead after the first period. That lead swelled to 13-1 at halftime, while it was 19-2 after the third period.

Sophomore Martin Gonzalez (Western HS/Cypress College) led the balanced attack with a season-high five goals, while freshman Max Lucero (Whittier HS) stepped in and added four goals, three steals and a pair of assists. The trio of sophomore Jacob Colon (Schurr HS), along with freshmen Isaiah Wright (Whittier HS) and Guillermo De La Mora (La Serna HS) each produced three goals in the win. Colon scored all three of his goals in the first period, while Gonzalez posted three of his goals in the first half.

Sophomore Ruben Martinez (Western HS) assisted on four of the goals, while 11 different players recorded at least one assist. The goalkeeping duo of Aiden Parra (California HS) and Anthony Alonso (Warren HS) combined to make 12 saves.
