Competing in the CCCAA State Championships, the Cerritos College men's cross country team finished in 13th place out of 28 schools on Saturday. The Falcons finished with 389 team points and were edged out by El Camino College, who took 12th place with 342 points. Riverside City College won the state championship with 88 team points. The state championships took place at Woodward Park in Fresno.

Sending their top seven runners, Cerritos had sophomore Carlos Mendoza (Highland HS) lead the way by coming in 66th place out of the 206 total runners with a time of 21:35.2 and was in the middle of a tight pack of runners to finish within two seconds of each other. A pair of Falcons were close behind, with freshman Abraxaz Sanchez (Schurr HS) turning in a time of 21:43.9 as part of another pack of runners, while sophomore Faustino Diaz (Warren HS) was close behind in 81st place when he crossed the finish line in 21:47.9.

Rounding out the team scoring were a pair of runners that finished back-to-back and consisted of freshmen Cristhian Macias (Gardena HS) and Jhamani Long (Gahr HS). Macias posted the 95th best time in 21:58.2, while Long was next at 21:59.6. The final two Cerritos runners to finish the course were sophomore Anthony Lopez (Downey HS), who came in 121st place in a time of 22:17.4, while sophomore Erick Ayala (Downey HS) posted a time of 22:59.5 to finish in 170th place.
