Serving as the host of the SoCal Preview Meet, the Cerritos College men's cross country team came in eighth place out of 28 schools on Friday at Don Knabe Community Regional Park. The Falcons compiled 259 team points and posted the second best finish out of the eight teams from the South Coast Conference competing in the meet. The team will also host the South Coast Conference Championships and Southern California Championships at the same location later in the season. Next Saturday, Cerritos will be in Las Vegas, NV to compete in the UNLV Cross Country Invitational at Craig Ranch Regional Park.

Running the four-mile course, freshman Pablo Calderon (Downey HS) was the first Cerritos runner to cross the finish line, as he posted a time of 21:00.0, while two of his teammates finished within :13 seconds. Freshman Jaime Quinones (Downey HS) turned in a 36th place time of 21:09.8, while freshman Vraj Patel (Cerritos HS) was clocked in 21:13.0, which put him in 44th place overall out of 313 total runners.

It wasn't until 21:32.9 before freshman Fabian Zuniga (Downey HS) finished the race, which put him in 65th place overall, while the team scoring concluding with sophomore Adrian Casas (Gahr HS), whose time of 22:09.9 put him in 110th place overall. From the time Calderon finished to 1:09 later, a total of 74 runners crossed the finish line, which shows how packed the course was with runners.

There were 11 other Cerritos runners who competed on the day and they included Patrick Perez (Downey HS; 22:47.7; 153rd place), Erik Almendares (Bell HS; 23:07.7; 173rd place), Ryan Bennett (California HS; 23:23.3; 185th place), Darion Blanding (Narbonne HS; 23:34.6; 189th place), Mario Rodriguez (Warren HS; 23:36.5; 192nd place), Demian Sanchez Lopez (Schurr HS; 23:43.0; 195th place), Walter Ramirez (Mayfair HS; 23:50.9; 203rd place), Matthew Alcaraz (Schurr HS; 23:56.7; 209th place); Jarrian Harrison (Long Beach Wilson HS; 25:09.9; 250th place); Joseph Rivera (South El Monte HS; 26:50.1; 278th place) and Rafael Nieto (Kennedy HS; 27:09.9; 283rd place).
