Getting an early look at the state championship course on Saturday morning, the Cerritos College men's cross country team finished in 10th place at the Fresno Invitational. Running the three-mile course at Woodward Park, the Falcons finished with 273 team points. On Friday, the team will compete in the SoCal Preview Meet at Mission Bay in San Diego.

Of the 195 runners on the day, Pablo Calderon (Downey HS) finished in 33rd place overall with a clocking of 21:52.0 and had five runners finish ahead of him less than three seconds apart. Just 18 seconds later, Jaime Quinones (Downey HS) crossed the finish line in a time of 22:10.9, which put him in 47th place overall. He was locked in a sprint with nine others and finished in the middle of that group.

It was another 20 seconds until the next Falcon runner completed the course, as Alberto Serrano (St. John Bosco HS) posted a 68th place time of 22:30.3, with Jordy Mazariegos (La Mirada HS) the next to finish the race. He touched up in 23:00.0, which landed him in 92nd place overall. The fifth runner to compile the team score was Daniel Alonzo (Artesia HS) with his 106th place time of 23:19.1.

Also running for the Falcons on the day were Joshua Williams (Los Alamitos HS; 23:27.0, 112th place), Eliab Ruiz (Norwalk HS; 24:35.0; 152nd place), Joe Munoz (Long Beach Jordan HS; 25:16.0; 164th place), Jarrian Harrison (Long Beach Wilson HS; 26:56.2; 183rd place) and Dhruv Patel (Cypress HS; 26:58.1; 184th place).
