Cerritos College sophomore softball player Briana Lopez (Norwalk HS), who's two home runs away from tying the school's single season school record, was named 3CFCA All-American. Additionally, freshman outfielder Brianna Spoolstra (Mayfair HS) was selected to the All-Southern California Team and leads the Falcons with a .450 batting average. The duo have helped Cerritos to a 22-16 record in the regular season and a #9-seed for the Southern California Regional Playoffs.

Brianna Spoolstra was named All-Southern California Lopez, who was also a two-time 1st Team All-South Coast Conference selection, leads the state with her 18 home runs and is fifth with 59 RBI heading into the post-season. The college's record for home runs in a season is 20 and was set by Samantha Vaaulu in 2009. She finished the last month of the season strong, recording eight home runs and drove in 31 runs in the final 15 games of the season. But since her two-home run game against College of the Canyons on April 14, Lopez has gone the last six games without a round-tripper, her longest dry spell of the season. The Falcons open up a three-game playoff series with the Cougars this weekend.

Lopez is the 15th All-American selection under head coach Kodee Murray and fourth in the last six season.

Along with her team-leading .450 batting average and 11 doubles, 21 walks and .538 on-base percentage, Spoolstra (pictured, above) is second on the team with 35 RBI. Spoolstra was also a 1st Team all-conference pick. She enters the post-season on a 12-game hitting streak, where she has gone 23-for-41 (.561), which includes a four-hit game and a trio of three-hit games. She drove in a season-high six runs against East Los Angeles College with a pair of bases-loaded doubles and had 14 multiple-hit games on the year.
