In their second meeting against Mt. San Antonio College this season, the Cerritos College softball team is still looking to get on the board. The Mounties (14-2, 8-0) posted their second shutout over the Falcons (8-10, 4-6), 10-0 in a five-inning game at Nancy Kelly Field on Tuesday. The team will host Pasadena City College in another South Coast Conference game at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Trailing 2-0 heading into the bottom of the first inning, freshman outfielder Haley Davis (Mayfair HS) led off by drawing a walk and after getting sacrificed to second base, was stranded there at the end of the inning. Cerritos threatened in the second inning, as freshman outfielder Itzel Soto (Long Beach Millikan HS) laced a single, followed by sophomore outfielder Veronica Medina (Whitter HS/Rio Hondo College) drawing a walk. With runners on first and second base, the Falcons were unable to advance the runners.

Sophomore shortstop Tena Spoolstra (Mayfair HS) posted a one-out single in the third inning and stole second base, but could not advance any further. Eight of the final runners were retired, with freshman second baseman Erica Martinez (Kennedy HS) drawing a lead-off walk in the fifth inning.

Mt. SAC led 6-0 after the first three innings off freshman starting pitcher Skyler Swearingen (Mayfair HS), while they put four more runs on the board in the fifth inning.
