After the first 9:30 of their South Coast Conference game on Friday, the Cerritos College women's basketball team was leading ECC Compton Center, 22-0. That lead swelled to a 40-7 advantage at intermission and finished with an 81-22 victory. The win improved the Falcons record to 5-6 overall and 1-2 in the SCC, as the team will now face Contra Costa College in the Fullerton Tournament next Thursday.

In jumping out to the big lead, Cerritos overcame missing their first three shots, but netted seven of their next 13 shots while the Lady Tartars started the game going 0-for-21 from the field.

The Falcons were able to receive a lot of bench scoring in the lopsided win, with freshman Priscilla Valdovinos (Fremont HS) draining four three-pointers on her way to a season-high 16 points, while sophomore Marissa Rendon (St. Paul HS) led the way with 18 points in 19 minutes, as she also netted a quartet of three-pointers.

Freshman Alexsis McCowan (Narbonne HS) chipped in with nine points and eight rebounds off the bench, while sophomore Diamond Roberts (Mayfair HS) was one of three players to score seven points. Sophomore Angel Pena (Huntington Park College Ready Academy HS) added eight points and six rebounds, with sophomore Deenesha Bee (Pioneer HS) pulling down a team-high nine rebounds to go with her seven points.
