The Cerritos College women's basketball team posted their fourth straight win on Wednesday at Hope International University, as they defeated Los Angeles Trade-Tech College, 51-40. The victory improved the Falcons record to 11-7 overall and 5-2 in South Coast Conference play, while the Beavers fell to 1-10 and 1-5. Next up, the team will travel to Pasadena City College for a 7:00 p.m. game next Wednesday.

Both teams struggled from the field, as Cerritos converted just 31.4% and were just 4-for-20 from three-point range and 3-of-13 from the free throw line. LA Trade-Tech didn't fare much better, as they made only 31.5% of their field goals. Only sophomore Marissa Rendon (St. Paul HS) turned in much of an all-around game, as she opened the contest by draining a pair of three-pointers and finished the night with 14 points, seven assists and three steals. She made 6-of-12 shots, while freshman Alli Salone (Gahr HS) did come off the bench to add eight points and four rebounds.

The Falcons gave their starters extended breathers against LATT, who came in with just one win on the year. The lack of continuity on the field seemed to affect Cerritos in their transition and shot selection, although they did pull down 19 offensive rebounds and recorded 15 assists on 22 field goals.

It wasn't until 7:45 remained that Cerritos was able to get the lead up to 14 points (40-26) after a fast break basket by sophomore Deenesha Bee (Pioneer HS), who concluded the night with nine points and four caroms. The Beavers received 14 points and 16 rebounds from Jerroniesha Green, who was their only offensive threat.

Sophomore Diamond Roberts (Mayfair HS) recorded seven points and seven rebounds, while freshman Samira Fields (Long Beach Wilson HS) stepped off the bench to pull down five rebounds in the win.
