For the first time since the 1991-92 season, the Cerritos College women's basketball team will not be a part of the Southern California Regional Playoffs. The Falcons finished the season with a 14-13 record and were in a fifth place tie at 8-8 in the South Coast Conference with East Los Angeles College. Three teams from the conference were selected to take part in the 18-team regional playoffs.

The fifth place finish was the lowest for a Karen Welliver Falcon team since 1985, which was her third season as the head coach. The 14 wins are also the lowest since that season when they won 12 games. A late-season slump sealed the team's fate, as they dropped six of their final nine games of the season, while they also struggled through a four-game losing streak back in November.

Cerritos generally plays one of the toughest schedules in the state, and faced six teams that advanced to the playoffs, while they posted a 1-10 record. They played #1 seeded Mt. San Antonio College three times and also squared off against Northern California's #1 seeded Santa Rosa Junior College and #2 seeded Fresno City College.
