Cerritos College sophomore guard Angie Ferreira is the second women's basketball player to sign with a four-year college, as she inked her National Letter of Intent with William Penn (PA) University. A 2nd Team All-South Coast Conference South Division selection two seasons in a row, Ferreira averaged 8.1 points and 3.0 assists per game, as the Falcons qualified for the Southern California Regional Playoffs. She also converted 70% of her free throws and finished third on the team with 41 three-pointers. Ferreira also joins Alyssa Salgado, who signed with Life Pacific College.
Ferreira scored a season-high 16 points against Santa Rosa Junior College, which included a season-high four three-pointers, while posting 14 points against both Ventura College and Mt. San Antonio College. She also dished out a career-high 11 assists against East Los Angeles College.
Consistent throughout her career, Ferreira accounted for 7.8 points and 3.0 assists her freshman season, which included a season-high 16 points against Solano College and 15 points against College of the Canyons and Pasadena City College.
Last season, the Statesmen went 23-9 on the year and qualified for the NAIA Division I National Tournament, where they were defeated in the first round, 55-49 by #9-seeded Carroll (MT) College. William Penn, seeded #6 for the NAIA Division I National Tournament, also lost in the finals of the Hearts of America Athletic Conference Tournament.
