Entering her first season as an assistant coach, Angela Pena was a member of the Cerritos College women's basketball team from 2011-13. A guard for the Falcons, Pena earned 2nd Team All-South Coast Conference in her sophomore year and still holds the fourth best free throw percentage in a season at 81.8%. She was voted as the team's Most Improved Player after her freshman year. Pena was voted the team's Co-Most Valuable Player and Team Captain in her sophomore season.

After graduating from Cerritos, Pena transferred to San Diego Christian College where she played for two more seasons. She was voted their Most Improved Player as a junior and just like at Cerritos, was their captain and Co-Best Offensive Player as a senior.

A three-sport athlete at Huntington Park College Ready Academy, where she was voted her team's Most Valuable Player all four years and was their captain for three of those seasons. She earned 1st Team all-league recognition in her senior year. As a senior, she averaged 23 points, 10 rebounds and five steals after scoring 27 points, with 11 rebounds and four steals her junior year. As a volleyball player, Pena was a 2nd Team all-league pick, while she was their captain for three years and MVP twice. While running on the cross country team, she reached the CIF and State Championships as a senior and was their captain and MVP.

Pena entered into coaching in 2016 where she helped lead her team to a third place finish in the China Men’s Pro Tournament. She then coached at Collins Family High School (2016-18) in Huntington Park and guided the girls basketball team to three playoff appearances, along with two undefeated league championship seasons. Pena also served as the volleyball coach for one season. From 2018-21, Pena was the girls basketball coach at Huntington Park High and guided them to three straight postseason appearances, while also serving as the softball coach for one season.

Pena earned her Bachelors degree in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in Elementary Education and a minor in Kinesiology from San Diego Christian College in 2016. 

Pena, 28, and her fiance Eduardo Rojas, reside in Los Angeles.
