Joining the Cerritos College women’s basketball coaching staff for her first season is Jazzi Johnson. A four-year lettermen at Cal State Los Angeles, Johnson concluded her playing career during the 2011-12 season and followed that by spending the next two years as a graduate assistant with the Golden Eagles. While playing for Cal State LA, Johnson led the team in scoring (13.6 ppg) in her junior season and after missing the following year with an injury, concluded her career by averaging 10.3 points and 4.8 rebounds, while shooting 57% from the field and 81% from the free throw line. Johnson was named 2nd Team All-CCAA as a senior and the team went 18-12 on the year and advanced to the conference championship game. She concluded her career as the eighth highest scorer in school history.

While at Kennedy High in Sacramento, Johnson was the Optimist All-Star Most Valuable Player, while she earned her team’s MVP award three times. She was an All-Delta Valley League and All-Metro selection twice, as well as earning 1st Team All-City and 2nd Team All-City in her career. As a senior, she averaged 13.3 points, 3.2 rebounds and 4.9 assists a game to earn the league’s Player of the Year Award. Johnson was also their captain.

Johnson, 25, earned her Bachelor degree in TV & Film Studies from Cal State Los Angeles and is scheduled to earn her Master’s degree in Sports Management from Concordia University in 2016. Johnson is single and lives in Long Beach.
