The Cerritos College wrestling team dropped their Southwest Conference opener on Wednesday, 27-15 to host Mt. San Antonio College. The Falcons will now travel down south to Palomar College to compete in the Southern Regional Duals on Saturday.

In the loss to the Mounties, the team was able to win three of the weight classifications and even opened the match with consecutive wins to take an early 9-0 lead and also led 15-10 with four matches remaining. But the Falcons were defeated in each of those remaining matches, which included getting pinned at 141 pounds in the final match.

Sophomore Michael Behnke (Arlington HS) opened the night with an 18-2 victory at 149 pounds before freshman Keanu Tom (Los Alamitos HS) recorded another convincing win, 11-1 at 157 pounds. The only other Falcon to post a win was sophomore Christian Milian (Norwalk HS), who posted a third period pin at 197 pounds. Trailing 21-15 heading into the final match, sophomore Ryan Medina (Warren HS) was pinned in the 141 pounds match, which resulted in the team's loss.
