Sonora HS: Was a two-time CIF champion and three-time Freeway League champion… Qualified for the State Championships his junior season at 132 pounds after coming in second place at the Master’s Meet… Competed at 160 pounds as a senior, 132 pounds his junior season and 113 pounds his sophomore year, and posted a 32-1 record that year… Took sixth place at the CIF Championships at 106 pounds his freshman year…..
