In their final Southwest Conference dual match, the Cerritos College wrestling team recorded five pins, as tey defeated visiting Palomar College, 48-5 on Wednesday night. The Falcons (9-2) will get a week off before competing in the East Los Angeles Brawl on November 19.

The night started with freshman Jameer McCrae (Villa Park HS) needing just 2:10 to pin Denzel Ayala. McCrae jumped out to a 6-0 lead after a four-point near fall before getting the pin to give the Falcons an early team lead. Freshman Raul Jimenez (St. John Bosco HS) added to the team score with his 9-0 win at 133 points, which included a four-point near fall in the first period that he held for nearly two minutes. He was only able to add a third period takedown, but earned the major decision.

It took freshman Anthony Pereyra (Lakeside HS) just 1:05 to pin Dustin Riquelme at 141 pounds after opening a quick 2-0 lead on an early takedown. Once he got Riquelme on his back, it was a quick pin and 16-0 lead for the Falcons. In the 149-pound match, freshman Cael Garriott (South Torrance HS) was working on getting position against Zach Hudlow, until an injury put Garriott in the down position when they returned to action. A quick escape and takedown led to a 3-0 lead, while a two-point nearfall in the second period extended the lead to 5-0 heading into the final period. He opened the period with a reversal, followed by a two-point nearfall and went on to earn a 10-0 major decision.

It wasn't until 1:52 remained in the first period of the 157-pound match before the Comets recorded their first point in any match. An escape by Palomar's Randy Lockwood against Felix Osorio (Santa Fe HS) led to another escape, with Osorio taking a 6-2 lead after the first period. Lockwood picked up Palomar's first offensive points with a second period takedown. But with Osorio leading 15-6 in the third period, the match had to be called due an injury by Lockwood, which scored six more team points for Cerritos.

The Falcons increased their lead to 30-0 after freshman Mateo Jaramillo (Yorba Linda HS) came close to pinning Hassan Alexander at 165 pounds, but had to settle for an 11-0 major decision. It took sophomore Stone Robledo (Villa Park HS) just 1:15 to pin Daniel Hernandez at 174 pounds for the team's third pin of the night.

After the Comets scored their only team points at 184 pounds, freshman Malachi Lyles (Mayfair HS) opened up a quick 2-0 lead over Jesus Rodriguez before pinning him in 1:59, while freshman Kobe Pablo (Cypress HS) closed out the night with a pin at 285 pounds in just 1:12.
