For the third straight game, the Cerritos College women's soccer team shut out their opponent, as they recorded a 7-0 South Coast Conference win over host El Camino College on Tuesday. The Falcons, ranked #3 in the country by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), as well as #2 in the state and #1 in Southern California by the latest CCCSIA State Poll, improved to 8-0-1 overall and 3-0-0 in the SCC. They will play their 10th straight road game to start the season on Friday when they travel to East Los Angeles for a 4:00 p.m. conference game.

The Falcons pounced on the Warriors in the third minute when sophomore defender Karina Sandoval (Universidad de Guadalajara HS) found the back of the net from the right side of the box off a pass from freshman Lyanna Farran (Bishop Amat HS). In the 22nd minute, sophomore Gaby Zamarripa (Artesia HS) put the Falcons on the board again with a breakaway goal off a pass from freshman Jazmin Aguas (San Pasqual HS), who finished with two assists. With the ball bouncing and a defender draped all over her, Zamarripa flicked the bouncing ball over the head of charging Warrior goalkeeper Alyssa Heely near the top of the box and into the net.

For the Falcons, sophomore Julissa Castaneda (San Pedro HS) added a goal in the 31st minute to cap off the Falcons scoring in the first half and the rout was on. Sophomore Lauren Nanez (La Mirada HS) scored two goals in the second half, while freshmen Claudia Lopez (Downey HS) added one and Claudia Ibarra (Universidad de Guadalajara HS) notched a goal and two assists.

Freshman goalkeeper Maria Santoyo (Universidad de Guadalajara HS) was on her game as she made four saves for her third shutout of the season and the team's third consecutive.
