Tied late in the game with host San Francisco City College, the Cerritos College women's soccer team scored a second half goal to post a 2-1 non-conference win on Sunday morning. The Falcons (5-0-0), ranked #1 in the country, have been getting balanced scoring this season, and the game against the Rams was no different. The team will play their final non-conference game on Friday at 4:00 p.m. when they travel to Los Angeles Pierce College. Five different players have scored on the year, while seven have been credited with assists.

In the first half, freshman Cassie Reyes (Bishop Amat HS) received the ball on the left side at the midfield line from sophomore Claudia Lopez (Downey HS), who then one-timed the ball behind the defense to freshman Nayeli Requejo (Bishop Amat HS). That left Requejo alone against the goalie, and she planted her fourth goal of the season into the net.

After the Rams tied in five minutes later in the 38th minute, the Falcons regrouped and managed to control the tempo of the game. Sophomore goalie Alexis Carrillo (Bishop Amat HS) posted three saves in each half to help keep Cerritos in the game.

But in the 73rd minute, Requejo drew the attention of three San Francisco City players because of her speed. But that left the net unprotected, and she was able to send a ball toward the goal, where freshman Carolina Ornelas (Artesia HS) headed the ball into the net for the game-winning goal.
