In a position they have been unfamiliar with this season, the Cerritos College women's soccer team found themselves down early in a game. The Falcons trailed, 1-0 to host Los Angeles Harbor College in the fourth minute, but needed less than a minute to tie the game and went on to record a 3-1 South Coast Conference win. They team, ranked #1 in the country, improved to 14-0-1 overall and 8-0-1 in the SCC, as they maintain first place. They will now host last place ECC Compton Center at 4:00 p.m. next Tuesday.

Freshman Nayeli Requejo (Bishop Amat HS) knotted the game at 1-1 in the fifth minute when she scored on a crossing pass from freshman Carolina Ornelas (Artesia HS). On the play, Ornelas took the ball from the right side of the field, sped around the Seahawks defender and got to the end line, where she sent her pass to Requejo.

In the 17th minute, sophomore April Juarez (Bishop Amat HS/USC) found Requejo on the back post, and sent a crossing pass, where it was headed in for Requejo's 17th goal of the season. From that point forward, the Falcons maintained control of the game and held LA Harbor without any shots in the second half.

Cerritos closed out the scoring in the 60th minute when sophomore Jasmine Cornejo (Artesia HS) picked up her second goal of the season on a header. Requejo, who had a three-point game, sent the ball over the LA Harbor defense to Cornejo for the goal. In net, freshman Adriana Salazar (Downey HS) picked up the win, as she made six saves.
