With four goals from sophomore Nayeli Requejo (Bishop Amat HS), the Cerritos College women's soccer team posted a 9-0 South Coast Conference win over ECC Compton Center on Friday afternoon. Three of the goals for Requejo came consecutively in a seven-goal second half for the Falcons (15-1-0, 9-1-0), who have won nine games in a row and outscored their opponents, 58-1 during that span. The team will host second place Mt. San Antonio College at 3:00 p.m. next Tuesday.

Requejo, who leads the state with 79 points, scored the first goal of the game at 13:13, as she broke away from three defenders to get the team on the board. Freshman Jill Messersmith (Newport Harbor HS), who assisted on the first goal, played a key role in the second goal when her corner kick was headed in for a score from freshman Kimberly Oliveras (East Career & Technical Academy, NV HS) in the 16th minute.

Cerritos wouldn't score again until the second half, and did so seven times. After sophomore Kassie Olivas (Laguna Hills HS) picked up her first goal of the season and sophomore Celinna Montano (Warren HS) recorded her fifth, Requejo accounted for the next three for a 7-0 lead. Two of her goals were penalty kicks, as she was pulled down the first time, while freshman Esmeralda Verdugo (Ensenada BC, Mexico HS) was brought down for the second. Requejo converted both and is now 9-for-9 on the year.

Sophomores Cassie Reyes (Bishop Amat HS) and Jazmin Aguas (San Pasqual HS) scored the final two goals on the day. State goal leader Ashley Anaya-Webb (Yorba Linda HS/Cal State Long Beach) was held without a goal, but she did register a pair of assists. Sophomore goalkeeper Adrianna Salazar (Downey HS) earned her eighth compete-game shutout and 14th overall on the year.
